My observation is that after a certain period of inactivity the printer head moves to the same position it goes to when it is switched off. So, I don't see any additional danger of the heads clogging if keep it switched on.

It does help to keep an eye on the air humidity inside the room. If it is too low (under 50 percent), a small sponge, humid not wet, inside the printer will help. Just don't forget to take it out before the next printing session.

Having said this, the 2880 is a notorious ink-wasting monster that prints money - for Epson.
