Frank, Thanks for the response on the Pentax list. I will contact the shop in Toronto. Wouldn't you know it, I was just in Toronto on business last week, a few blocks from that location. If I had only known! Visited Henry's Camera shop and a few pawn shops on Church St... looking for used gear. Almost bought a AF 35-70.
I can't remember exactly what is wrong with the MX (it is probably on the repair order I have at home) but what it is doing is the mirror would occasionally lock up when the shutter is released. The local shop said there was a part worn that they couldn't get a replacement for. If you get down this way, just email me in advance and we can meet. I'm sure they can let you know if they can help. They're really good at scrounging parts, in my experience. They also answer e-mails fairly quickly, at least they did mine. If they can help, I know it would be a PIA to have to mail it here, but at least it wouldn't cross any borders.
