'morning all,

Being fans of Tony Hillerman's novels, my wife and I had Shiprock on
our 'must visit' list during our USA trip.

We, together with our two sons, had planned to arrive in the late
afternoon, scout around for a good photographic location and then sit
back with a glass of New Mexico red and wait for the sunset.  As it
happened, getting out of Farmington (where we were staying) took an
eternity so we arrived much later than we had hoped.  Beggars couldn't
be choosers, so this was the best we could do.

Disclosure: I got rid of some wires crossing in front of the rock, my
justification being that had I climbed a fence and moved a bit closer,
the wires wouldn't have been visible anyway...
