Thanks Larry. Easier to show than tell, so here is a graphic I made of the set-up I used. https://www.flickr.com/photos/pixelsmithy/15706498803/
I now also have a SkyView Pro german equatorial mount with dual DC drives and Intelliscope (push-to) computer, which I hope to get out with and try imaging through my Orion ED80T CF soon. But this is a much smaller, lighter and portable set-up which works well with DSLR and not-overly-large lenses. Vixen Polarie page on B&H: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/843972-REG/Vixen_Optics_35505_Polarie_Star_Tracker.html One could also construct a barn door drive, assuming you could built it correctly, to do the same thing, but the Polarie also has different modes: Lunar, Solar, and Siderial (stars). Some people also use the iOptron knock-off of the Polarie which is cheaper and includes a polar-alignment tool. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?sku=979344 Hope that helps. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
