Hello Paul, those were nostalgic shots of the Grain Silos in Australia. Here is another kind of Grain Silo or a Granary built by Sher Shah Suri, the moslem king who ruled north eastern India. It is called Gol Ghar or round house. This mighty structure has no pillars and is cavernous inside. The walls are 3.6 meters thick at the base. It was furthered built and strengthened by Captain John Garstin of the East India Company, in 1786.
This may be the oldest Granary in the world and one of a kind architecture. Two helical stairs lead up and down from the look out on the top which presents a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the mighty river Ganga. The Gol Ghar is situated in Patna, Bihar and was on the way to my boarding school, another archaeological beauty built in 1857 by the Christian Brothers of Ireland by the banks of the river Ganga.
