I do kind'a wonder when a couple of feet of snow got to be such a big
deal in New York & New England? Doesn't this sort'a thing happen there
every winter?

Still, I'm glad to hear everyone is doing Ok.

Just took to the dog out for his last walk of the evening, weather.com's
hourly report says we experienced blizzard condition. There was a bit
of blowing snow, but nowhere near blizzard conditions.

In my youth, (gaud but that makes me feel old to say that), I had to
trudge about a mile through about 1 and 1/2 feet of snow, with wind that
cut through my down parka like it wasn't there, and my breath freezing
into icicles in my beard, to get to my office. I was a graduate student
and the school administration didn't even bother to cancel classes until
the afternoon. I don't even know how cold it actually was.

Tonight I was wearing a sweater a Squall Jacket, and a wool cap. So far.
this is nothing.

Whew! The news report that the Red Line (subway) is now running again

NB: We've had almost a half an inch of snow so far...
