clear plastic hamster balls, and is from what I understand, quite popular
with the dogs.

Yikes. Have the local animal advocates caught wind of this yet? I
would not want to be an admin of that club if/when they do. :)
The rats are unionized. They cannot work for more than half an hour, and then 
they get an hour break, the dogs are not actually allowed near the rats, and 
the rats have legislation on their side.
