This AM, I ran across this volcanic rock strewn wooded hillside. Must have been an event resulting from the eruption of the lone area mountain some 1.6 million years ago during the Pleistocene Epoch. (don't you just love the internet:) The remaining ramparts of which you've heard me refer to as "The Sutter Buttes."
