Coober Pedy is certainly worth a visit but you'd probably need more
than a couple of hours on an excursion to fully appreciate it. If
there's still a frontier town in Australia, Coober Pedy is a prime
candidate. We stayed a couple of nights in one of the underground
motel rooms. An interesting experience, especially when you turned
off the lights at night - I've never seen dark so dark!
Because of the extreme summer heat, lots of things are underground
there - not just the opal mines - even a bookshop and a church.
