Well that and the metal lens mount, and probably a number of other
less expensive lighter weight parts you don't see.
My 55-300 (non WR) has a metal lens mount.
How many versions are there of that lens?
Three I think, the L version, light weight, bundled as a kit lens with
Pentax entry level DSLRs, the original version, not weather sealed, and
the latest version, which is weather sealed. I don't think there was a
version II with improved optics and I don't think that there's an HD
version yet, but that's next and there will then be 4 versions...
