Three Suns have been seen today in Chelyabinsk. This is due to a relatively rare halo effect caused by ice crystals formed in the air as a result of a sharp temperature drop down to -23 -- -25 C (-9 -- -5 F).

Chelyabinsk is a large (well over 1 mln in population) city in Russia, in Ural Mountains. You might remember that two years ago, there was a large meteor explosion over Chelyabinsk.


It has been on many Russian website for some 7-10 hours by now, and just started trickling to the Western English-language websites.
