Yes, statement necklace and showpiece necklace appear to be accepted
synonyms. Statement is the word I was really after though - thanks!
Only learned the term recently myself...
as to color - maybe MY monitor is oversaturated :-)

It looks oversaturated to you? Well I used an X-Rite color checker
target to calibrate the shoot, I retouched on my colour-calibrated
iMac monitor, and I swear on a stack of Ansel Adams 3-book box sets
that I added no saturation at all. Aly's skin is a wonderful rich cafe
au lait colour and really looks as you see in the shot. She put on
colourful lipstick, and her hair has the same colour highlights as her
glasses and lipstick. So I believe it's a pretty faithful rendition of
the actual scene, FWIW.
Thanks, Ann.

I think that qualifies for what the fashionistas down my way call a
"statement" necklace... Like the pose and lighting, but it looks a bit
oversaturated to me on my monitor.

Another shot from a test/creative session with Aly Westwood last
Sunday in my office studio. My theme was "showpiece necklaces". I
borrowed a bunch of jewelry from my friend Gabi at her store in
Toronto's Junction area, The Trap Door Boutique.
