Hello Alex! If you want to darken the sky you may try some gray grad-filter or some other suitable colour grad. To mount it on a wide angle lens without a filter mount you can try a square filter holders with an aprioprate adapter. I know that Cokin has some sort of adapter that doesn't require a filter mount - it's holded by securing it against sides of the lens. You can use it for a square polarizer, too, but keep in mind the effect mentioned by some already - the effects might be uneven throught th frame. I was going to do a test in the store with such an adapter and my Mir 20/3.5 lens but never got to do it. Some people also suggest to use a bit of wire to mount a filter. The problem might be if the lens has some sort of of sun shade as my Mir does - its built in - two pieces of metal stand out of the lens above and under the front element. That would allow light to enter beetween a filter and the lens which can lead to contrast drop and another bad things. Theese are just my ideas as I never tried any polariser on my 20mm lens and I'm no filter expert as well. Maciej - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
