I do think this whole thread is ridiculous. He had a BIN of $15ppd. Now, if he had listed it as $5 + $10ppd no one would have thought it was out of line. Local camera stores get 7-8 bucks for camera brand rear caps like that one plus sales tax. Many Ebay dealers charge $15 or $20 for shipping and handling on low priced items (especially on computer stuff). I used to think that was ridiculous, but have found it costs me $6-7 out of pocket to ship a lens, and that does not include time and effort. So, this guys price is not that far out of line.
If folks haven't figured it out by now, everything on Ebay is "rare and valuable". That is the nature of that market. Sure its BS, but if you want to get decent prices on what you sell there you have to hype it up. All he is trying to do is build up some interest. If you have ever been to a live auction you would not find this hype strange? So, frankly, I can't see what all the uproar is about on this particular auction.
