Thanks, Alan. For the wildflowers I set the drive mode to medium or slow speed continuous and try to very smoothly turn the focus ring. High speed is too fast - to cover the DOF I have to move the focusing ring too quickly to feel confident that I am covering the range I am trying to get in focus.
