Dear Stan, Street Photography requires you:- a) to be fast most of the time before that super photo opportunity is lost. b) Sometimes it also requires you to be discreet, which means you must shoot fast and disappear into the crowds. c) Tall structures like Skyscrapers throw deep shadows which require you to use fast lenses. d) Changing lenses on the street can be a daunting task with folks watching you, the rush of people and dust thrown up by vehicular strategy. e) Others.
As a travel and street photographer, I use the fast and brutally sharp Tamron 17- 50/2.8. Sometimes I need a wider lens like at the Photo Walk in the Castro & Mission area San Francisco - full of beautiful murals and wall art - see samples in the link attached. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tlm5mr6cbdykut9/AABnVE5t0CTVgh4Me-Z0jQXIa?dl=0 Both the DA21/3.2 and the DA15/4 are rather slow, never the lens brilliant lenses, discreet too. And I truly marvel at your lens changing skill in the hustle bustle of city streets. I do not change lenses, as I plan in advance when going to a particular area, as in Los Angeles.
