Darren and Ken, thanks for the comments.

Darren: The lens was Pentax 50-135/2.8 maxed out at 135 mm.
        I forgot 60-250/4 at home, and had to use the shorter lens that is
always in the bag.
I cropped the photo just a bit (from the original 4928x3261 to 4362x2889).
The rest of the data: 1/800 f/5, ISO 800, handheld.

50-135/2.8 is a great performer.
But what I think has contributed to the crispness of the image is the
weather: even though it was taken around 3pm, it was partially cloudy.
That allowed to avoid overly deep shadows. I still had to bring the shadows up and the highlights down in the post-processing, especially because of the black color.
