Glastonbury Abbey was well-established by the time of the Domesday Book in 
1086, though it needed rebuilding after a fire in the 1100s. It thrived until 
Cromwell had it  destroyed, and had the Abbott hanged, drawn, and quartered in 
1539; it then fell into ruin.

The floor is no longer present, hence the slightly unusual composition.
