According to what I've read, I have all the appropriate updates and the notification icon should be on my taskbar. Also, from what I've read, lots of people are having the same issue. It's a bit long in the tooth (much like me) and I'd be reluctant to risk messing up something that currently works, albeit a bit slowly (again, much like me...).
