I stopped by the camera store today to pick up a lens cap for a flea market lens I got yesterday. While I was there I was chatting with one of the salesmen. He said that they could barely move the K-5 and K-3 bodies, so apart from their K-3 demo they don't have any K-3 or K-3II in stock. They do, however, sell a lot of the K-S1/2 and K-500 bodies.

He said that while they sell fewer Pentax of any of the other brands, they also had far fewer problems with them than with other brands.

They had some fuji bodies. He said that they were really a boutique brand. They're a lot more expensive than comparable. If you just process the photos in auto mode, the way most people do, you don't see much difference between them and less expensive options. However, if you take the time with them, you can get amazing image quality out of them.

I asked him about the Olympus TG-4. He said that Olympus makes great stuff, but the company really screwed camera stores over a couple of times going through rough times (out of business?) and that they are now pretty much online only, because brick and mortar stores don't want to get left holding the bag again.

I played a bit with the K-S2. I'm afraid that I just didn't like the way it felt in my hands. Too little space between the finger grip and the lens, and the shutter button was awkwardly placed.
