They said about 3m in the middle. There is a series of earth wall weirs on
this stream which flows southwards (only in the wet season) through a game
farm & army base between Kruger & the town. Several hippos reside in the
dams & even venture into town in search of grazing during the night. A
couple have been hit by cars when crossing the road.

That looks exciting! How deep was the water?

Last Sat. I borrowed an old Mountain Bike to enter a local MB Race on a
game farm adjoining Kruger. I am really a runner & part-time road cyclist
so MBiking was something new. The bike wasn't a very good fit & I don't
even have proper cycling gear. The route was quite tough with a lot of
loose sand & some deep, rocky dongas to be negotiated. I was very
circumspect (not like some of the young kamikazes!) & fortunately never
came off. My heart was in my throat when I saw this 100m pontoon bridge
made from fork lift pallets strung on two steel cables about 3km from the
end . I just pedalled like mad & safely reached the other side unlike some
unfortunates.
