That countryside brings back memories from almost 50 years ago! My mother had a couple of friends who lived in Windrush, and she occasionally spent a few days with them during the school holidays. If I was prepared to drive down and collect her, she'd let me use her car while she was away (a tempting offer for a sixth-former!). I was only 17 or so at the time, with a typical schoolboy's ignorance of what was going on outside my own horizons, so I was totally unaware that just a few years earlier one of those friends - Joyce Lang - had created something of a stir with a speech critical of comprehensive education policy that was used as an excuse for a Times editorial (although that editorial mis-represented Joyce's position). I only discovered this long after I had left home. They remained friends until my mother's death; Joyce came to the funeral, although by that time (2009) she didn't often leave home. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
