You wouldn't think so to look at him, but he is the Trojan prince Tithonos, one 
of the many handsome young lovers of Eos, goddess of the dawn. When she asked 
Zeus to give him eternal life she forgot to ask for eternal youth, so Tithonos 
has aged and shrivelled, wrinkled and shrunk, and that sound you hear is his 
wizened voice, longing for death.
