Hello Paul, I had the same thing happen to my K-20D. The card would
not lock in and stay put. It would just pop out.
Here is my simple DIY Fix: I had this plastic tapered leveller piece,
the one you push under cupboards and tables so
that they do not shake and get levelled with the rear wall.
There is another piece used as door stoppers. You can buy them at Home
Depot, Lowes, Canadian Tyres etc.
I cut off a piece and fashioned a notch with a utility knife to enable
me to pull it out with my finger nail. Then slid it into
the card slot with the card. Checked the position and glued them
together with crazy glue.
Note: a) the glued length sticks out a bit from the card so that it
just touches the card door when locked. There is no place
for the SD Card to pop out now even if it tries to do so
- extra safety feature.
b) The card slot on my Laptop is push / pull type, and is a
fail safe design.
c) We were taught FMEA (failure mode effect analysis) and
Reliability Engineering in our Graduate Engineering Course.
Don't know why Pentax - Ricoh does not use this technique.
Regards.
