My network at home is acting up again. I'm having trouble mapping network drives to my NAS boxes.
I've got the router in this room for this computer, NAS-1, my laptop (when connected), a Mac Mini & Color laser printer; with a long cable going to a 5-port hub in the other room where the other computer, NAS-2 and my old B&W laser printer are connected. For some reason this computer has decided that it can't find the network path to \\computername=NAS-1\sharename for the first NAS (Error 53). If I substitute the IP address for the Computername it will map to the drive. But it's perfectly happy with \\computername=NAS2\sharename for the NAS-2 box in the other room. The OTHER computer in the other room will only map to NAS-2 using the IP Address, while it's fine with \\Computername\sharename for NAS-1. It gives the same Error 53 "Network path not found" I get from this computer for NAS-1 . I've had to replace the network cable for NAS-2 twice in the last week. Both "bad" cables tested good when I tested them by connecting to a network printer; tested good in this room & in the other room. I don't know what's going on. -- Science - Questions we may never find answers for.
