I feel for you.
As for the release button, - I've had a very similar problem with the
brand-new Pentax af540fgz that I had to return (several years ago).
Since that, I've been using Metz 58 AF (1), and except for some
intermittent problems with the hot shoe contact, it's been working fine
(on 4 different continents).
Well, maybe you'll get flashed at one of FL beaches. ;-)

I had hardly been using it lately because I had been using the yongnuos,
