I'm pretty sure it was an iPad app that was only available for Canon &
Nikon. A friend was showing it off about a year ago & at that time it
was only available for Canon, but the Nikon version was coming soon.

It was interesting, but I'll quit photography before I'll ever switch to
Canon.

You can get an app for Nikon and/or Sony (it has been awhile, I
forget the details) which automates stacking, etc. for those with the
right tethering system. Those of us with Pentax remain pure at heart
with no such gadgets to tempt us.

That looks like a very interesting tool - basically automating the
process of creating stacks by adjusting the focus as opposed to
moving the camera. That would be a very useful feature indeed, both
inthe field and in the studio.

I seem to recall that someone on PDML does a fair bit of work
with focus stacking. It looks like Olympus latest firmware
announcement for the E-M1 is going to make this easier:

I had planned to sell off my mFT equipment and concentrate
entirely on the Leica and Nikon FF gear, but stuff like this
inspires me to hold onto the E-M1 ...
