Yes, John, it would, but rather awkward in a small car especially when travelling. Quite possible at, say, a waterhole. The K7 sensor is already a bit noisy at ISO 400 & becomes more evident in heavy crops. Noise reduction softens the image. In reality, I'm pushing my equipment beyond it's limits. Jack Davis gets good results with a K3/HD55-300 and also Paul Stenquist with a K3/DA50-250/1.4x TC but they can work even at ISO 1600 if needs be because the sensor is so much better.

Next W/E we are going to a mountain resort with a dam & bird hide so I'll use a tripod at ISO200 & see what happens.

Would it be possible to use a bean-bag or other window-pod arrangement?

Thanks for the comments. I know it isn't the best of shots but one
doesn't often get a chance like this. Jack, the 150-450 would be nice
but I can only dream! Yes, Bob (& Frank). It is noisy but that's the K7
at ISO 800. The K5, K3 & even the K 01 are miles better. Even at ISO
800, the shutter speed was only 1/350s, quite slow for H/H at 500mm. No
chance of using a tripod as we were in the car.

Looks like quite the imposing bird. Impressive photo.

Our largest eagle with a wingspan of just over 2m. Not so common

Shot at a range of about 200m with the HD 55-300@300mm + 1.7x AF
converter
making it 510mm. f11, ISO 800. This is the closest I'm ever likely to
get to
a superzoom.
