Those cool mushrooms are called "shaggy mane" one of only a very few that one can gather and consume without worry - when they are gathered in the state you show in your photos... but they turn quickly into "inky caps" so should only be harvested when young and fresh
watch for them to reappear..

(aside to steve Harley) the black horizintallines appeared briefly again looking at Larry's flickr page... this hasn't happened at all in days and it is -only- when I've looked at things on flickr... not as much fun
