Well, thanks Igor, but I'm afraid your suggestions put me in mind of a fragment of Bruce Springsteen lyric:

Thing is, going really fast is the whole point! :) In my case, creating a huge field of crazy specular reflections was my whole point. The large hard silver light source was directly behind me so the model is surrounded by millions of points of sparkling light. Kudos to the Pentax lenses and coatings that let me do this with massive veiling flare. Sure I could substitute a black background or shift the lights off-axis but I'd have a completely different image then, and not what I was after.
