Not sure if this is what is being said, but if you use a DA lens on
the FF sensor, crop looks like it would give you the option of
utilizing a 22.2 x 22.2 square format central section of the FF
sensor.

I'd need to do some math to figure out how many megapixels that would
be (for both the 36.3MP sensor in the Nikon 800/E or the 42MP sensor
of the A7r, but since the pixel pitch of a full frame sensor is less
it would not be as high a MP as the K-3/II. It would give the other
advantages of the FF sensor, however (better high ISO performance, I
would think). Smaller file size, and also giving back a focal length
multiplier for telephoto subjects.

Depends on the kind of shooting you do and the lenses you already own
as to whether or not you would make use of that, but it would provide
OPTIONS not found on any other maker's camera.
