Still haven’t found either the time or the light for any serious shooting, but i did go out for a few minutes late today to practice with this rig on a monopod. This pic is my neighbor’s wife coming home. She’s traveling at about 30 mph and is about 700 feet from camera. Shot at f5.6, IO 3200, 1/1600th, 450mm. Cropped to about 60% of frame. Underexposed due to the headlights (I wasn’t planning this shot) but pushed up a stop of more in conversion. Very pleased with the autofocus and the minimal flare. Some sharpening in PS.

A bit of sharpening, although it didn’t seem to need it. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18142526&size=lg A pair of trees about 200 feet distant. No crop. Shot at f5.6, 1/800th, ISO 3200, 450mm. Minimal sharpening. Focus was on the tree on the right of course. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18142527&size=lg Hope to try some lower ISO pics tomorrow if the skies lighten up. Getting used to managing the lens on the monopod. It’s much bigger and heavier than the 60-250 but well balanced and solid as a rock. Here’s a cellphone pic of it dwarfing the K3, fully extended at 450 mm. I now need an 86mm circular polarizer for my car shoots. The Hoya is about $130 at B&H. Top brands run $300 to $500. The Hoya will have to do, but i’ve had good experiences with them. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18142527&size=lg -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
