Hi All: My R2880 had a fussy moment the other day; the rollers wouldn’t grab the paper. We duked it out, I finally won, and obedient behavior has resumed! Yea!
But, the experience did inspire a quick look-see on what Epson has on offer these days. To my surprise, the R3000 has been discontinued (Already? Didn’t that just come out?), and I learned there’s the new Epson SureColor P600 Wide Format Inkjet Printer, which looks like it would be a replacement for the R2400, R2880, and R3000. Anyone have any buzz on the new Epson P600—and, for that matter, the direction of photo dedicated printers in general? I see wireless printing is big now, which would be fun to have if I wanted to print straight from my iPad Air. Has anyone done a lot of wireless printing? Thoughts? Frustrations? Recommendations? I printed some photos on Velvet Fine Art paper just now and had no problems. Per Epson’s recommendation, I’ve ordered some cleaning sheets to give those rollers a good soothing, so they don’t act up again. They should be here within the week. Will be interesting to see if they do any good. Not much shooting lately—just work related stuff. I did have a few shots of the high altitude balloting project published in DePaul University’s Science and Health alumni magazine titled Scientia. The production quality of the magazine was a little disappointing (paper and printing quality), but the editor was really nice, and it was very sweet of the magazine team to ask. I have shot a little with my iPhone 6. For a good long while I’ve thought it odd shooting with the phone—just doesn’t feel natural—very awkward, but I am a bit more comfortable with it lately. Slowly, trying to get back into photo-flow! Feels good! Actually, feels great! Hoping to have something for the PDML annual if that’s still on—but could be tough to find something—not much shooting this year.
