For the past 15 years, I have been chair of our Rotary Club's "Holiday Happiness" program. We wear Santa hats, ring bells, and collect money at local strip malls for the local food bank and the local program for homeless women and children.
Our prime location in outside the local liquor store, where folks seem to be more generous than elsewhere, especially when the neighborhood familily physician, the pastor of the larges church in our community, or our State Senator (pictured below) are on duty. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18146637&size=lg We also work with local scouts, who work outside a pharmacy next to Dunkin Donuts, rather than the liquor store.
