It's tough here in Connecticut, if I want to see Pentax gear in the
"flesh" I'd have to go to New York. No one local stocks Pentax. Heck,
only one local Camera store actually stocks more than one or two
manufactures products. Except for some big box stores and they only
carry bottom feeder Nikon and Canon DSLRs*.
Olympus, who's that? Sony? Panasonic? They make Cameras? Fuji? Don't
they make film? Pentax are they still in business? Those are all
questions I've heard from sales droids at Big Box Stores. Most of the
time I don't even bother talking to them because the don't know anything.
At least Amazon has a generous return policy, but it's still, I
generally don't want to order something unless I really want to own it.
*Ok so Sam's club stocks the Nikon 1 line. Even Nikon Fanboys try to
forget that exists.

While i sit in my room recovering from my surgery i keep myself busy
by working on my memoir book, walking and searching Henry's camera
site for lenses and bodies. It is becoming increasingly hard to be a
Pentax shooter in Ontario these days. Camera bodies are readily
available but need to be shipped in to the local franchise to view, as
are lenses. but to a lesser degree. Many lenses are not offered, those
that are, especially Sigma and Tamron are special order, sales final
no returns your stuck with it. Even the well thought of 70-300 and
55-300 is special order.
I mention this because my beloved Sigma 17-70 needs repair again. Its
behaving like the Pentax 17-70
's i tried slow focus or not at all. It was repaired and worked fine
for 6 months then it started to focus ok, then slow then stop, then
back to ok again. Its going in next week.
I have been looking for a replacement should it not be repairable, and
as i say these lenses are now special order take it or leave it. I
have found a few on Amazon Canada but that requires it to be shipped
and then the WD would have a fit sit.
I;m thinking if more lenses fall to the way side a side ways move to
my Nikon a would work, lenses readily available or continue with Fuji
purchases.
Tough life north of the 49th i say. :-)
