I have an older bigma, the 50-500 4-6.3 DG APO version, not the HSM OS
.... latest version. Some years ago, the hood got cracked and a
replacement was something like $50. You can buy replacement hoods for
the current bigma for around $20, a much better deal.
I asked Sigma about replacement hoods and they just said:
Unfortunately we no longer have the correct lens hood for your lens, we
are unable to assist you here.
But, I'm not entirely sure that is because the new hoods don't fit
rather than the old ones just aren't listed in their database any more.
Does anyone have any way of checking to see if a new hood works on an
old bigma? Or what the actual part number for the replacement for my
hood is so I could look for an inexpensive used one?
Yes, I know, I could find screw on ones, but I much prefer the bayonet
mount.
