Thanks, all.

The city is maddeningly inconsistent about plowing. A few times the neighbors 
have organized a shovel brigade and cleared the block, only to have a plow 
rumble down the street a few hours later. Other times (this storm, for example) 
all the plows have done is to put mountains of packed snow at either end as 
they plow the perpendicular streets, making entry and egress difficult.

This time, we'll probably just wait for it to melt. It's supposed to be above 
freezing all day and night today.
