This is Dale Zarrella, the sculptor of the Mermaid pictured in my previous posts, at work behind his home on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean on the West Coast of Maui:

He works in bronze and other media, but prefers wood, especially the wood of the Monkeypod Tree, also called the Rain Shower Tree, which is widely found on Maui. The new work is one of a series depicting Hawaiian legends concerning mermaids and mermen. Dale done numerous works on commission for resorts, museums and wealthy collectors.
