I shall name it, and based on the released photos, it probably doesn't
have an aperture simulator, dammit. On the other hand that probably
means I won't have to hock my mother and my car to be an early adopter.
Or, you can learn to use the green button and shoot with your older
lenses with semi-manual exposure.
I also suspect that full auto exposure is available with pre-A lenses
in Live view.
I already know how to use the Green button. I have to use it all the
time, and as such I fully understand it's limitations.
Now, based on the projected price of the K-1, which is Nikon D610 like,
and it's specifications, (which except for the aperture simulator)m are
Nikon D810 like, and it's probable diminutive size, compared to everyone
else' Full Frame DSLR, I'm inclined to cut Ricoh/Pentax some slack for
not including one. However because of that I'm not in any rush to buy one.
However if price point is the only reason, then shame on them. I'd
happily spend 50-100 dollars more for the aperture simulator, which
would probably cost them only 5-10 dollars more to implement. The
camera already looks to be the least expensive full frame option
available, (it will street eventually for less than the Sony A7II,
probably a lot less).
Since it's not going to offer open aperture metering with my classic
lenses, and I'm pretty happy with the results from the K-5II, (it
produces incredible full frame prints, heck the K20D produced incredible
full frame prints), using my current printer. I'm in no particular rush
to upgrade cameras anyway.
I happen to think that 16mp is as much resolution as I currently need,
(notice I didn't say that that's all anyone else needs, just what I
need), and in fact based on the new pro. spec. DSLRs from Nikon and
Canon they think that 20mp is all working pros need in their workhorse.
So if I do upgrade I'll be looking at a K-3[II], and save the rest of my
money for fast wide glass.
