Thanks, Alan. My wife, my son and I hiked one of the shorter trails across the crater 20+ years ago, and also a crater trail in Kilauea, on the Big Island. I do have friends here who did a three day kike across the Haleakala caldera a couple of weeks ago. There are cabins inside the crater that can be reserved for those seeking the full adventure.
