Exactly my reaction.


I was torn by a question: is it really a violin? It seems to be larger, more like a viola [or even violoncello (cello)?]. (And I remember some viola players telling me about the rivarly going on between viola and violin playes..)

Not being an expert, I asked Google...
I saw that people refer to a "violin family" of instruments that encompasses all of the above (and then some).

But then I read this warning:
" If you call a viola a violin, violists will be very upset. The equivalent would be mistaking a Canadian for an American."

And for that latter part we have some experts on this list, don't we?
