That camera was never shown with a designation at the time it was under development. During Photokina 2000, someone at Pentax told me its project designation was MR-52. However, being the digital sibling of the MZ-S, we all take for granted that its public name had to be MZ-D. Then, nothing for years and years... and then, over the last year or so, it's put on display again at fairs in Japan with that K-1 name on it. So I think of that name as an "official fake" by Pentax, with the purpose of relating current products to that ancestor.
