However, I must say I struggled with MF using these slow lenses. No focussing

No photos, but I just tried the DA 35mm macro on an LX, and there is
some visible vignetting, but no complete black corners.

Of course the hood should NOT be fully extended, if you do
that the corners DO get blackened out. 

I also noticed again how nice and smooth the focussing with the K 1.2 50mm 
that was on there to start with really is :)
