Downtown St. Louis has a huge number of parking garages (most apparently lightly used), and a dwindling supply of beautiful old buildings (which seem to keep being torn down to build parking garages). Most of the old buildings have "For Sale" or "For Lease" signs on them. In New York or Boston or Philly they would long since have been converted to apartments or condos.
