At some point during my never-ending search for the perfect gadget to store/carry SD cards [as discussed in a recent thread] I came across this:
http://www.adorama.com/BYPPSLAAAOR.html It is a small plastic case for 6 AAA batteries. There is a similar one from the same company that holds 4 AA batteries. If you carry spare batteries in your camera bag, this gadget is the solution. Each battery is held separately, recessed so that there is virtually no way other stuff in your bag could short across the contacts, the individual batteries are easy to access, remove.
