Larry, I see two potential problems with what you propose: 1. Taxes on entering USA. If this is a big box with all sorts of gear in it - won't your tax people be interested in taxing it?
2. PDML is not 100% American. There're some European PDMLers who could, at least in theory, be interested in some of that gear. Having said that - naturally, if there is interest in more than one item and it comes from USA - I would of course look for trying to arrange combined shipping.
