I guess, what I would care to know is what are the situations when 1 or less extra stop makes critical difference. I can understand fast tele: when you stick 2X converter on 300/2.8, 1 stop initial difference would translate into 2 stops, and I do think that's quite a bit. But what are situations where 50/1.2 is absolutely needed over 50/1.4? If you say "available light", I have hard time believing that the gain of speed, say 1/50 vs 1/40 makes difference between a shot taken and a shot missed. Does it, really?
