The government kept the Tolls in Connecticut long after mandated payment for the road was completed. The public unrest over that was palpable, and the legislature in fear of losing their phony baloney jobs, voted to remove them. It was planned for 6 months after the vote, but in the interim there was a horrendous accident at a toll plaza, with multiple casualties, when a tractor trailer driver started to fall asleep at the wheel. The Governor had them shut down within a week by executive order. I guess the government in NJ is less responsive than in Connecticut.

I disagree most strongly. The government will get our money, one way
or another. What I resented about the old toll system is that I had
to wait in endless lines in order to cough up what the state demanded
of me. I prefer to zoom past at 70 mph and get the bill online.
