You may have heard of the ginormous sunspot now taking center stage on our local star. I had to attempt it, so snagged this photo of ginormous Sunspot AR2529 during my afternoon work break. The inset is at 100% and appears to be a "heart" at it's core. Taken with a Pentax K-3 II at 1600 ISO with home made AstroSolar filter. Sigma EX 50-500mm f4-6.3 DG with a Pentax-F 1.7x teleconverter.
I believe the Sigma was at 500mm plus the 1.7x. This is a single image (taken from the JPEG) with no stacking or sharpening - only color correction. (My filter makes everything look violet). https://www.flickr.com/photos/pixelsmithy/26365856941/ -- “The Earth is Art, The Photographer is only a Witness ” ― Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Earth from Above -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
