LOL!!! That is new whisky vocabulary, to me at least! I rather enjoyed the aftertaste, which I thought was quite complex and hinted of the ocean. I think you have done a great summary of the principal Islays. Mind if I steal it? <G> I have never tried the Trader Joe's, and I guess that now I never will. I have sipped all the others on numerous occasions, although for home mostly I have been buying Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaoig. "NAJ:The flavor is not unpleasant, but a bit heavy for my taste." Interesting comment. For some reason, Lagavulin always pleases me more at a bar or at a restaurant after dinner than at home. I think that may be a result of the heaviness she describes, which works better during an evening our on the town than while relaxing at home. It seems the one that you both dislike the most is the Caol Ila. It has never been one of my favorites, but I buy a bottle every once in a while when I am looking for a change. Since I was a Physics geek, I really don't relate to the "food fight in an organic chemistry lab" comment. <G> Seems almost everyone likes The Laddy.
